Powers and Duties
The City of Alexander's City Council serves as the main governing body responsible for making important decisions on behalf of the community. The council is composed of the mayor and four elected council members, all serving four-year terms. The City Council meets regularly on the first Wednesday of each month to discuss city operations, pass ordinances, and manage public affairs. Special meetings can also be called to address urgent matters. Open to the public, these meetings ensure transparency, with proceedings recorded in a journal. The mayor presides over council meetings and holds the deciding vote in case of a tie, while also having authority to enforce laws and oversee city operations.
