Building Design Criteria
Required Design Criteria for Construction
When designing structures in the region, the following criteria must be adhered to for safety and compliance:
- Frost Depth: 48 inches
- Elevation: Approximately 2400 feet
- Roof Snow Load: 21 pounds per square foot (psf)
- Ground Snow Load: 30 psf
- Ultimate Design Wind Speed: 115 miles per hour (mph), with Surface Roughness C
- Seismic Design Category: A
- Air Freezing Index: 4000
- Mean Annual Temperature: 40°F
- Ice Barrier Underlayment Required: Yes
- Winter Design Temperature: Negative 21°F
Geotechnical Requirements
For footing calculations, the presumptive load-bearing values should align with those outlined in IBC Table 1806.2. If vertical pressure values exceeding 1500 psf are used, a geotechnical report must be provided to justify these values.
