Atmospheric Resource Board
Powers and Duties
The McKenzie County Atmospheric Resource Board oversees weather modification activities, including cloud seeding, to enhance precipitation and manage atmospheric resources. Its responsibilities include licensing weather modification contractors, permitting cloud seeding operations and conducting related research to improve the effectiveness of these technologies. The board also establishes rules and regulations to ensure environmental and public safety, monitors and evaluates cloud seeding activities and provides reports to sponsoring entities.
Additionally, the board collects and disseminates accurate climate and precipitation data and educates the public on atmospheric processes. Through these efforts, the board aims to responsibly manage atmospheric resources in the county.
