Powers and Duties
Pursuant to ND Century Code 11-11-11, the McKenzie County Board of Commissioners holds significant authority and responsibility in overseeing the county’s operations. They manage fiscal affairs, supervise county officers and ensure proper financial audits. The board controls county property, constructs and maintains roads and bridges, levies taxes and regulates public utilities. Additionally, they handle countywide services such as garbage collection, public safety and election precincts. The commissioners also manage county infrastructure projects, participate in community development programs and ensure the submission of financial records from various county boards and committees.
