Directions

The McKenzie County Landfill is located 6 miles west of Watford City on HWY 85. From there, travel 2 miles south on 132nd Ave NW, then turn west on 25th St, and the yellow gates will be visible on your left.

Hours of Operation

• Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Closed: Weekends and Holidays
• Note: No loads will be accepted after 5:00 PM

Important Notices

• No Hunting or Trespassing: Hunting or trespassing within the McKenzie County Landfill is strictly prohibited.
• Regulations Compliance: All customers must adhere to State and Federal dumping regulations. Non-compliance can result in fees.

Safety Reminders

• Speed Limit: The speed limit within the facility is 10 mph, and 3 mph on the scale.
• Speeding Penalty: A $25 fee will be imposed if speed alarms are triggered.
• Safety Precautions: Please drive slowly around the facility, as there are moving machines and people walking, and do not approach machinery.

Battery Disposal Reminder

Please refrain from disposing of any lithium batteries in your regular household garbage, including car, phone, equipment and rechargeable electronic batteries. Improper disposal can lead to small fires, which our trained staff are prepared to handle.

• Free Disposal: We accept lithium batteries and car batteries at no charge during normal business hours.
• Wet-Cell Batteries: Please bring wet-cell batteries (e.g., vehicle batteries) to the landfill for proper disposal, or call us to discuss disposal procedures.

We have partnered with Call2Recycle to offer responsible recycling for rechargeable batteries. Recycling boxes are available at:
