Powers and Duties
The McKenzie County Public Library Board is responsible for overseeing the operations and development of the McKenzie County Public Library, ensuring that it meets the educational, informational and recreational needs of the community. The board is also responsible for managing the library's financial resources, which may include approving budgets, seeking funding from various sources and overseeing expenditures to ensure that they align with the library’s mission and goals. It has the authority to manage and control all library property, including the acquisition, maintenance and disposal of resources such as books, materials and facilities. It can also establish rules and regulations to ensure the proper functioning of the library, including determining library library hours and service policies. Additionally, the board can collaborate with other governmental bodies, educational institutions and community organizations to promote library services and programs.
