The park honors past, present and future residents of McKenzie County who honorably served our country in the Armed Forces. Through donations from Fulkersons Funeral Home and Carl E Rogen Post 29 of the American Legion, the cost of adding veterans’ names is only $75. Coordinate with the McKenzie County Veterans Service Office to get names added or to donate to the park fund.

Headed by Commissioner Lonnie Wangen, the ND DVA oversees the implementation of programs and benefits authorized by the state of ND and of the nation for our veterans through its various agencies and the Veterans Service Officers in our 52 counties and 4 tribal nations.

Through the Highly Rural Transportation Grant (HRTG), McKenzie County Veterans Service has a wheelchair accessible van for transporting veterans to their scheduled VA appointments. Call the VSO to get scheduled for your free ride to your appointment.

We have 4 TVs in McKenzie County displaying slides of our veterans. To submit a veteran, you need their service information and a pic of them (preferably in uniform.) Our office can help if needed.

Western North Dakota Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to senior veterans – World War II and Korean War survivors, along with terminally ill veterans.

Heroes With Hearing Loss® is about reconnecting veterans with the people who are most important in their lives, including their families, friends, colleagues, communities and healthcare professionals. We accomplish this by providing Captioned Telephones or Captioned Mobile Apps for veterans with hearing loss.

An honorably discharged disabled veteran may qualify for a property tax credit on the veteran’s homestead. The applicant must be a disabled veteran of the United States armed forces with an armed forces service-connected disability of 50% or greater as determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

For very low-income Veterans, SSVF provides case management and supportive services to prevent the imminent loss of a Veteran's home or identify a new, more suitable housing situation for the individual and his or her family.

Calling or texting 988 connects veterans in crisis to compassionate care and support for mental health, substance use-related or any other type of distress.
