Hazardous Materials

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) classify hazardous materials as articles or substances that pose a risk to health, safety, property or the environment. These materials are regulated and transported in commerce under strict guidelines.

Section 324 Notice

In compliance with federal law, the McKenzie County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) announced that the McKenzie County Emergency Operations Plan, including the Emergency and Hazardous Chemical Inventory (Tier II) Reports and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs), has been reviewed and is available for public inspection. You can view these documents at the McKenzie County Courthouse – Emergency Manager’s Office during regular business hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM, and 1:00-4:30 PM.

Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG)

The U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has published the 2020 version of the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG). This guidebook is designed for first responders to use during the initial phase of a transportation incident involving hazardous materials.
